Remembrance Day
At the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month the country stops and observes a two minute silence. We do this to show respect for and remember all those who have given their life in the service of their country.
At Middleton on the Wolds School we stopped to remember and we were joined by our vicar, Rev Jane and also by parents and friends of the school. We laid poppies to remember. We have sold poppies in school and the money will go to the charity of the Royal British Legion who help the veterans of the wars and their families.

Our special awards assembly
This is a new idea for Middleton on the Wolds School. Each half term we invite in our family and friends and we celebrate all of our achievements in that half term. We award certificates to those children who have made really good progress in a particular area and certificates to those who have achieved highly in their work that term.
In addition, there are letters of commendation for children who have consistently shown very high standards of behaviour, effort and positive mindset. We call them "the always children". They recieve a special letter from the head teacher written to their parents and a prize for themselves.

MOWSA came to this assembly and presented each class with their special reading treasure chest books. We are excited to get going with reading these.
Learning in Foundation Stage
Learning is always great fun in Foundation Stage. We read, write, paint, cut, stick, glue, listen, talk, play, sing, dance, run, jump and climb. We learn inside and outside, find out new things on our own, with a friend and with the adults who work with us.
There is always something new and exciting to explore in Miss Ramsden's class.

Decorating the church for Harvest Festival 2019
Harvest Supper and service
This year we met at the school before our Harvest Service and shared a supper together. Mrs Goodwin put on a lovely spread and the food was really tasty. Then we walked down to St Andrew's Church with our banners. Each class had made a different one to think about the harvest of the sea, the harvest of the land and all the different things we are grateful for. Reverend Jane led the service and helped us think about all the gifts we have and how we share them. She told us about the Jewish festival of Sukkot and we helped to decorate a sukkah. We brought our harvest gifts for the Food Bank and raised £143.84 for Save the Children too.

We do lots of different kinds of practical activities in science. These pictures show just a few of them. Phases of the moon with oreos, baking and using the grounds outside to research, Middleton children enjoy finding out about the world around them.

The New Playground at Middleton on the Wolds
When the parish council asked us to come down to the official opening of the new playground equipment we set off down for our teddy bears picnic. Although it was raining we enjoyed the afternoon with all of our bears. We helped to cut the ribbon, then were entertained by a singer. We had a great time.
